Colette: Uncensored

October 1st @ Nevada Theatre

Meet Colette—the audacious French author behind Gigi and Cheri who blazed through Belle Époque society like a literary wildfire.

Colette was France's first female journalist to report from the front lines, was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature, and shocked society by performing in music halls while maintaining affairs with both men and women.

Colette Uncensored is an electrifying one-woman tour de force, co-written and performed by Bay Area legend Lorri Holt who channels the spirit of literature's most notorious rule-breaker. From her scandalous marriages to her groundbreaking novels, from music halls to literary salons, witness the untold story of a woman who championed sexual liberation, environmental consciousness, and female empowerment—decades before they became movements.

PRESENT LAUGHTER

July 11th - August 2nd @ Nevada Theatre

By Noël Coward

Directed by Scott Gilbert

Featuring; Trish Adair, Vicki Colombo, Kimberly Ewing, John Gardiner, Holli Hiraoka-Hurst, Tina Marie Kelley, Harrison McCormick, Judy Merrick, Robert Peterson, and Hunter Reed as Garry Essendine.

Noël Coward’s delightful comedy of manners centering on Garry Essendine, a self-absorbed, aging star whose personal life is in constant chaos. As he prepares for an overseas tour, Garry juggles a series of unwanted visitors: a starstruck young admirer; an eccentric young playwright seeking mentorship; and an acquaintance determined to have an affair with him. As romantic entanglements and professional obligations collide, Present Laughter wittily explores the exhausting nature of celebrity, the thin line between public persona and private self, and the price of living in the spotlight.

The Three Polar Bears are out in the cold! Their icy home has melted into the sea because of rising temperatures. Enter Goldilocks, a little, yellow-haired spoiled brat -- to save the day??  It's hard to be a hero when you're only thinking about yourself. With the help of some unlikely friends, Goldilocks learns what it means to do her share and be a member of a global family.

AN INSPIRING TALE FOR ALL AGES

Featuring 9 original songs in pop, folk, R&B and Broadway show tune styles, composed by Nevada City's own Sky Seals (recent composer of "Gold Can't Love You Back", and LeGacy Productions' "It's A Wonderful Life")

Written and performed at the New York Fringe Festival in 2011, it is very surprising that this little show didn't solve the Global Warming crisis, so now it's BACK!

Wendy Remington Bowie, writing for NYTheatre.com, raved:

"I loved this play...A wonderful piece of theater for kids (though if the opportunity presented itself, I would watch it again even without the excuse of having my kid with me)....This is a play that I wish I could have on demand to pull out for a rainy, bratty Sunday afternoon as a respite and a good laugh with the added benefit of some superbly and really relate-able lessons."

TBTB SEMINAR

May 28th @ Nevada Theatre

By Theresa Rebeck

Directed by Sands Hall

Featuring; John Deaderick, Heidi Grass, Holli Hiraoka-Hurst, Danny McCammon and Cosmo Merryweather

Four aspiring writers. One ego-maniacal novelist. A world of insecurities, betrayals, ambitions, and competition.

Seminar is a fast and wild ride through the world of literary workshops, where students pay good money to have their work critiqued, sometimes brutally. In this case, Leonard, a once-celebrated writer, unleashes his ruthless teaching methods that go beyond the typical criticism. This bitingly hilarious play by Theresa Rebeck delves into questions of artistic integrity, power dynamics, and the cutthroat nature of the literary world.
